Terms of Service

Effective
Pre-launch draft: effective date set at launch (owner review required)
Last updated
September 16, 2026

These terms are the agreement between you and the operator’s legal name (owner review required) (“Mom Knows”, “we”, “us”) for using the Mom Knows apps, this website, and the emails and support that come with them (together, “Mom Knows”). Please read them together with our Privacy Policy, which explains how we handle your family’s information.

The short version

  • Mom Knows is for organizing your own household. Use it lawfully and respectfully.
  • You own what you add. You let us store and process it only to run Mom Knows for you and your household.
  • Only add information about other people, including your children, when you have the right to.
  • The assistant, reminders, lists and suggestions can be wrong or late. Check anything important, and never rely on Mom Knows in an emergency.
  • Mom Knows is free for now. We’ll tell you before anything costs money.
  • You can stop using Mom Knows and delete your account at any time.

1. Accepting these terms

By creating a Mom Knows account, accepting an invitation to a household, or otherwise using Mom Knows, you agree to these terms. If you don’t agree, please don’t use Mom Knows.

If you set up or manage a household, you also accept these terms for how you use Mom Knows on behalf of the people in it, including children you add.

2. Mom Knows before launch

Mom Knows is still being prepared for launch. Some features described in these terms or in the app are not available yet, may work differently when they arrive, or may change or be removed as we learn. Parts of the app show sample information to preview features that are not connected yet; sample information is not about your household. Features we describe as a preview, beta or test may be less reliable than the rest of Mom Knows.

3. Who can use Mom Knows

Mom Knows is built to be set up and managed by adults: a parent, a guardian, or another adult who runs the household. To create an account yourself, you must be old enough to agree to these terms where you live.

Children may use Mom Knows only as part of a household managed by their parent or legal guardian, or by another adult with that parent’s or guardian’s permission. That adult is responsible for the child’s use of Mom Knows and for the information added about the child.

4. Your account

  • Give accurate information when you create your account, and keep it up to date.
  • Keep your password private and your devices secure. Don’t share your account; each person should have their own.
  • You are responsible for what happens under your account. Tell us straight away at support@momknows.app if you think someone else has used it.
  • If you sign in with Google, Apple or Facebook, keeping that account secure is also your responsibility, and that company’s own terms apply to it.

5. Households and family members

A household is shared. Each household has one owner, who is always a Parent, and the people in it have roles (Parent, Admin, Adult, Caregiver or Child) that decide what each person can see and do. People in your household can see household information according to those roles and permissions.

  • Information about others. When you add a person to your household, or add information about them (such as a name, a photo, schedules or notes), you confirm that you are allowed to: for a child, as their parent or guardian or with that person’s permission; for an adult, with their knowledge and agreement.
  • Invitations. Only invite people you know and who expect to hear from you. Don’t use invitations to send unwanted email.
  • Managing a household. Parents and Admins can change roles and permissions, and deactivate people. Use those controls fairly and with care for the people affected.
  • Leaving. You can leave a household, or ask someone who manages it to remove you. Leaving a household does not delete your account; see section 14.

We don’t decide disagreements between members of a household, but we may act on a report that Mom Knows is being used to harm someone (see section 14).

6. Using Mom Knows responsibly

Mom Knows is for personal, household use. You agree not to:

  • break the law, or use Mom Knows to harass, threaten, stalk, exploit or harm anyone, especially a child;
  • add content that is illegal, or that you don’t have the right to share;
  • try to see or change information your role doesn’t allow, or get into another household or account;
  • probe, scan or test the security of Mom Knows, or interfere with it, overload it, or get around its limits;
  • upload malware, or use automated means to access Mom Knows or collect information from it, except as we allow;
  • copy, sell or resell Mom Knows, or reverse engineer it except where the law allows that despite this restriction;
  • pretend to be someone else, or misrepresent your relationship to someone in a household.

7. Your content

“Your content” is what you and your household add to Mom Knows: for example names and profiles, photos, events, tasks, lists, recipes, notes, files, email you forward (when that feature is available), and what you ask the assistant.

  • You keep ownership of your content.
  • You give us permission to host, store, copy, process, transmit and display your content, only as needed to run Mom Knows for you and your household, keep it secure, and meet our legal obligations. This includes sharing it with the people in your household according to their roles, and with the service providers described in our Privacy Policy that help us run Mom Knows. This permission ends when your content is deleted, except for copies we are allowed to keep as described in the Privacy Policy.
  • You are responsible for your content and for having the rights to add it.
  • We may remove content, or limit access to it, if we reasonably believe it breaks these terms or the law.

We work to keep your information safe, but Mom Knows is not a backup service. Keep your own copies of anything you can’t afford to lose.

8. The Mom Knows assistant

Mom Knows includes an assistant your household can name. It is not a person: its answers are generated by artificial intelligence, using a third-party AI service described in our Privacy Policy.

  • Answers can be wrong. They may be incomplete, out of date, or simply mistaken, even when they sound confident. Check anything important yourself.
  • Not professional advice. The assistant does not give medical, health, nutrition, allergy, legal, financial, safety or childcare advice, and nothing it says replaces a qualified professional.
  • Never for emergencies. If someone may be in danger, contact your local emergency services.
  • What it can do. For now the assistant can only look things up in your household (such as its people and lists), and only what the person asking is allowed to see. It can’t add, change or delete anything. If that changes, the app will ask you before the assistant acts.
  • Your decisions are yours. You are responsible for what you do with its answers.

9. Reminders, meals, lists and suggestions

  • Reminders and alerts can arrive late, or not at all, for reasons outside our control (for example, your device’s settings, your connection, or an email or notification service). Don’t rely on Mom Knows alone for anything time-critical or safety-critical, such as medication, pick-ups or appointments.
  • Meals and recipes. Recipes, meal plans and ingredient information may be incomplete or wrong. Always check ingredients, allergens, nutrition and food safety yourself.
  • Lists, groceries and prices. Mom Knows doesn’t sell products. Any product, store, price or availability information shown in Mom Knows may be inaccurate or out of date, and any purchase you make from a store is between you and that store.
  • Suggestions. Anything Mom Knows suggests, such as tasks, schedules or meals, is a starting point for your own judgment, not a recommendation you should follow without checking.

10. Sign-in and connected services

You can choose to use services run by other companies with Mom Knows: for example, signing in with Google, Apple or Facebook, and, when those features are available, connecting a calendar or an email account.

  • Those services are not part of Mom Knows. Their own terms and privacy policies apply to them, and we aren’t responsible for how they work or for what they do with your information.
  • You authorize Mom Knows to use a service you connect only in the ways you approve, to provide the feature you chose.
  • You can disconnect a service at any time, as long as your account keeps a way to sign in. A feature that depends on a service may stop working if that service changes or becomes unavailable.

11. Fees and subscriptions

Mom Knows is currently free, and we won’t charge you without your agreement. If we introduce paid plans, we will show you the price, what it includes, and how renewal and cancellation work before you buy.

If you buy through the Apple App Store or Google Play, that store processes your payment, and its terms govern billing, renewals, cancellation and refunds. You manage those purchases in your store account.

12. Availability and changes to Mom Knows

We work to keep Mom Knows available and reliable, but we can’t promise it will always be available, uninterrupted or error-free. We may need to pause it for maintenance, and we may add, change or remove features. If we plan to stop offering Mom Knows altogether, we will tell you in advance where we reasonably can, so you can save what you need.

We send the emails your account needs, such as email verification, password reset, invitation, security and account deletion messages. These are part of the service, and you can’t turn them off while you have an account.

13. Our intellectual property

Mom Knows, including its software, design and content (other than your content), and the Mom Knows name and logo, belong to us or to those who license them to us. While you follow these terms, we give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable permission to use Mom Knows for your household. Don’t use our name or logo without our written permission.

If you send us ideas or feedback, we may use them without owing you anything.

14. Ending your use and deleting your account

  • You can stop at any time. You can also delete your account. That page explains how, what is deleted, and what may be kept.
  • Household owners. Before an owner’s account can be deleted, ownership has to move to another Parent, or the household has to be deleted.
  • We may suspend or close an account, or remove someone from a household, if we reasonably believe they have seriously or repeatedly broken these terms, put other people or Mom Knows at risk, or if the law requires it. Where it’s appropriate and safe, we will tell you why and give you a chance to respond.

Sections 7 (for copies we may keep), 8, 9, 13, 15, 16, 17 and 19 continue to apply after your account ends.

15. Disclaimers

To the fullest extent the law allows, Mom Knows is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy and non-infringement.

Mom Knows helps a household stay organized. It does not replace adult supervision of children, professional advice, or emergency services, and we are not responsible for decisions made on the basis of what it shows or says.

Some places don’t allow these disclaimers, so some of them may not apply to you. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer protection laws that can’t be limited by agreement.

16. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits, revenue or goodwill, arising from or related to your use of Mom Knows, even if we were told they were possible.

To the fullest extent the law allows, our total liability for all claims about Mom Knows is limited to the amount stated below.

These limits do not apply to liability that cannot be limited by law, such as, in some places, liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.

17. Governing law and disputes

If you have a concern, please contact us first at support@momknows.app. Most concerns can be resolved quickly that way.

18. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as Mom Knows changes. We will change the dates at the top of this page, and if a change is significant we will tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect. If you keep using Mom Knows after a change takes effect, the new terms apply. If you don’t agree to them, stop using Mom Knows and delete your account.

19. General terms

  • Whole agreement. These terms and our Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between you and us about Mom Knows.
  • If part doesn’t apply. If a court finds part of these terms unenforceable, the rest still applies.
  • No waiver. If we don’t enforce part of these terms straight away, we can still enforce it later.
  • Transfer. You can’t transfer your rights under these terms. We may transfer ours as part of a merger, acquisition or sale of assets, and these terms will continue to protect you.
  • App stores. If you got the app from the Apple App Store or Google Play, that store’s terms also apply. Apple and Google are not parties to these terms and are not responsible for Mom Knows or its support.
